Ed Graf, Founder of the Priory Hotel & Grand Hall, was Proud of His Swiss and German Roots

Ed Graf, who along with his late wife Mary Ann founded the Priory Hotel (later leading to the development of the Priory Hospitality Group), passed away peacefully at the age of 86 after a brief illness on September 22, 2025.  This article is the news obituatory from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Benefit concert helps beloved Riley’s Pour House rebuild after devastating fire

On the day of the Raise a Glass to Rebuild Riley's Pour House fundraiser, John Graf and Joe Riley spoke to WPXI about the incredible event going on at Pittsburgh's Grand Hall at the Priory Hotel. Joe said, "John Graf and The Priory opened their house so we could rebuild our house".

They also spoke to pub owners and beloved musician Pete Hewlett about the how the community came together.

"I think he [John Graf] realized we were going to need some help before we did" said Joe Riley, talking about the fire that took Riley's Pour House on November 11th, 2024. John Graf walked Sheldon Ingram through the Grand Hall space, discussing plans for an upcoming Raise a Glass to Rebuild Riley's Pour House Fundraiser.

Priory Hospitality Group Properties Named Best of the Burgh

The readers of Pittsburgh Magazine voted three Priory Hospitality Group properties as the Best of the 'Burgh.  The Priory Hotel was named Best Boutique Hotel, Mansions on Fifth was named Best (B & B Style) Boutique Hotel, and the Grand Hall at the Priory was named Best Wedding Venue.  The rankings appear in the July issue of the magazine.
