We have been proud, over recent years, to host and participate in a wide variety of events and support a number of worthy causes aimed at making the lives of people in the Pittsburgh region better.
Much as our Priory businesses are unique -- grown organically from the buildings and areas they occupy – we at the Priory Hospitality Group see ourselves as woven into the greater fabric of the community. As such, we see it as an important part of our mission to support both our neighborhoods and the greater community at large – through sponsorships, gifts, hosting events, and giving of our time and talent.
Winter White Wedding Giveaway: Since 2008, we have held a drawing each year to award one of our Winter White Wedding receptions to a veteran or active duty service member who has served in the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan. The purpose of this giveaway is to honor and recognize the sacrifices of all who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan, and their families, and to hopefully remind others of those sacrifices which continue to this day.
In March 2012, we hosted our fourth couple. In addition to providing a full reception at no cost to the winning couple at our Grand Hall, we have also recruited other service providers to provide their talents and goods free of charge, with the aim of offering every aspect of the wedding reception to the winning couple at no cost to them. These generous vendors have provided the bride’s wedding dress, wedding rings, photography, groom’s and groomsmen’s formal wear, hair styling for the bride and bridal party, and disc jockey services. It has been our honor and pleasure to do this, and we will continue to hold this drawing until our armed forces are out of harm’s way.
Team Tassy: For the past two Augusts, we have been privileged to work with Team Tassy to host two fundraising ventures. The first event was aimed at raising money to bring a Haitian boy named Tassy Filsaime to Pittsburgh for surgery to remove a large tumor from his lower face. Raising more than $30,000, Team Tassy did bring the young man to Pittsburgh and his surgery was successful. The next year, Team Tassy raised funds to bring two other young Haitians to Pittsburgh for much needed surgery. Team Tassy’s philosophy is that by saving one child they help to rebuild a family, and that Haiti’s future lies in rebuilding one family at time.
Homeless Children’s Education Fund: With more than 800 children in Allegheny County homeless at any one time, the Homeless Children’s Education Fund seeks to ensure that those children receive equal access to educational assets while they are homeless. The Priory has been proud to partner with HCEF in variety of fundraising and awareness raising events, including the stellar Night on Broadway event starring Dr. Shelly Hipsky of Robert Morris University.
Three Rivers Rowing Association Juniors: The Priory has partnered with Three Rivers Rowing Association to host winetasting fundraisers to benefit its Juniors division. With more than 80 youth rowers, TRRA Juniors is open to all and promises that those rowers who practice will compete. TRRA is on the forefront of promoting youth physical fitness and discipline, and in fighting childhood obesity.
Little People of America: The Priory is honored to host free of charge, for the past 12 years, the annual Christmas party of the western Pennsylvania chapter of the Little People of America. The event is the highlight of the year for this organization, which provides social support and advocacy for persons of short stature.
Other Organizations Supported: The Priory family has regularly supported a variety of other local organizations, including the Ireland Institute of Pittsburgh, North Side Cultural Collaborative, Mercy Behavioral Health, North Side Common Ministries, Allegheny Choral Society, Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theater, Avonworth Athletic Association, Avonworth Community Park, East Allegheny Community Council, and many others.
Requests for Support:
If your organization wishes to request support from the Priory Hospitality Group for your organization in the form of a sponsorship or gift certificate, please print the form and return it to us by e-mail to email@example.com with “Priory Cares” in the Subject Line. Please send the form at least three months before the event is to take place. Our staff meets and evaluates requests once per month. While we cannot honor every request for support, we will give each submission close consideration.
